My viscous coupling has failed. I ran it for a while on just the rear drive shaft and it runs fine. If I remove the rear drive shaft and install the front drive shaft should it still work?
Basically does a failed Viscous Coupling mean you can either run the front or rear drive shaft?
Thank you for your help. 1999 4.6 RR

It will work. It will actually drive with a good VC with a prop shaft removed - just not advisable to do it for long or you may wreck the VC.

Note though with the rear prop removed if there is any movement in the VC and you park on a hill the transmission brake (hand brake) will not hold.
