Guys,

I just installed the VelocityAP tune for my TD6 17 L405. After some challenges getting it installed (mostly user error) it loaded and I put a few hundred miles on the car. The torque gains are huge, as to be expected with this engine. There is still a slight turbo lag but once it spools up the car pulls hard through 45-50mph from a rolling start. The highway passing is also much better than before. I also have been driving harder than normal since the install and also had K02s installed this weekend so I am not sure what the real world MPG changes, if any, will be. I also haven't towed with the tune yet so can't comment on that but will in the coming weeks.

If you are on the fence its definitely worth the money.

JD...placing my order for my 17 TD6 with Stuart...how long did it take to get the loaner tool once you ordered...I assume you also removed the stop / start...I wish JLR had put a VNT turbo to get rid of some of that initial lag...but even stock it is faster then my L322 V8...so I am really looking forward to the tune....what "user errors" should I watch for when doing this?

ahhh...thats what I get for not wearing my glasses...
Hehe...happens to some of us regularly and it’s not as if it’s mentioned clearly on a regular basis either. Most of the “excessive” lag is from the transmission. There’s some turbo lag naturally, but it’s not as much as it seems.

Not to knock on VelocityAP, I do have some rather serious concern with regards to the estimated +165ft-lb torque increase as the main bearings are a known weak point on this engine through at least MY17 combined with the specific torque limits on the transmission internals. Since the baseline dyno is a mess (can’t let the speed differential drop into the pendulum vibration dampeners’ extension range) and there’s zero data logging available, keep this tid bit in mind:

Internal Warranty cost for a Td6 stripper motor, replacement trans, and labor is just under $40,000.

Took a month or so. I think the RRS community keeps them busy. I got the adaptive dynamics and suspension fault errors thrown. Ran the car for the bit then walked away for an hour. Errors had cleared.

Im happy with it. Not earth shattering like my old M2 tune but it adds real torque. Def not feeling 165lb/ft additional at the wheels but still a solid gain based on the butt dyno. Gas mileage wise I've dropped about 3-4mpg highway and 2-3 city.

are you able to delete the auto start stop function? Also what about lag off the line? Mine is almost a safety issue sometimes when I need to cross oncoming traffic and the car wants to sit there for a second.
