I ran a home smoke test today and had smoke coming from the EGR Valve. In this situation is it advisable to just replace the gaskets or the whole EGR valve? I have a rough than normal idle and horrible gas mileage.
looks like ihave a similar issue, any thoughts on just replacing gaskets vs the entire egr. i have a 2008 rr hse with 160k miles and p0701 code with increased bank 1 and bank 2 long term trims and some smoke from the egr during a smoke test
Agoritsk, I got gaskets for the EGR and went to replace them. Ended up being a complete PIA because I couldn't get the bolts on the bottom of the EGR valve off. I ended removing the intake manifold because it was the only way I could reach everything and it's not a big deal to remove. Then my problem happened. I went to connect the EGR valve back to the piece in between the intake manifold and throttle body.(no clue what it's called) Well my bolt snapped off into that piece. I tried using a bolt extractor to remove it and that broke. So now it's been sitting for a few weeks because I've tried everything and couldn't get it out. I got fed up with it and haven't messed with it at all. I've been helping my son with his car and I only have so much mechanic time in my life. I'll probably work on it this weekend but if you do anything please update it here so we can figure it out.
