Its a hopeless cause. They just closed all the national/state parks in our area down, even after we had a clean up day and fixed all the washouts that were causing silt runoff. We had a pitition as well. But they closed it anyway. You can thank two groups for this. First are the Toyota/Jeep owners. They organise rides involving 100's (no joke) of rigs and they tear everything apart, drink, and make alot of noise, and disturb the wildlife, plus they tape it all and put it on the internet. The FJ f*ckers are the worst. They are the reason our parks got closed here. Second is the socialist/hippie losers that are somehow slipping into power. They dont give two shits about the enviroment they just want futher the control and power of the Federal goverment over the middle and upper classes. As long as you keep voting Democrat the lower class losers will control our goverment and this stuff will keep happening. So Im sorry your losing the park. We can all meet up at TGI Fridays and talk about the good ol days here soon when having money was better than being poor and having to work for you own thing.

Remember Obama voters,
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel or envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."

If you think 4 wheel drive vehicles don't tear up the ground and cause erosion then you are crazy.

You can get mad but doesn't change anything. If you are out there on a trail slinging dirt and creating ruts you are causing erosion.

Why do you dislike Rovers so much and still drive one? Just sell it so we dont have to hear your complaining and your constant put downs on other owners.

 Who are you referring to by"YOU"?

All... yes Mikey, ALL of the members here that I have met and wheeled with are very terrain consious and careful when off road. Most of the members I have met here, and ALL... yes Mikey, ALL of the members of the two LR clubs I belong to are members of Tread Lightly. Many of us spend many hours maintaining and restoring trails and wilderness areas. Many of us volunteer our time to work with local Forest Service branches to do many special projects such as invasive plant studies, remote landing strip clearings, and even help raise funds to help keep our wildlife habitats clear from debris and damage. So none... yes Mikey, NONE of the folks I know and associate with "sling mud" or "create ruts". However thank you for posting a wide sweeping statement that you usually pitch such a fit about.

No us "offroaders" are all the same. We drive poorly lifted 80's American made trucks that have giant confederate battle flags on them and drink alot of poor qualty beer while yelling "Tuesday is gone" and "Freebird". Us lot just drive our Rovers to the Coutry Club and Cigar Bar and use the pick ups for offroading and killing the enviroment.

Karl,
Shut up with the diminutive names. My name is not Mikey, it never has been and you think you are being cute using it. You only come accross as a jerk. You lack the maturity to be a good mod as evidencided by resorting to diminumtive nicknames.

Tread Lightly is an organization that by its very existence admits that the vehicles can and do cause damage.

It is idiotic to claim no one you know slings mud or creates ruts while at the same time claim you have to spend time restoring trails. How long do you think I would have to look to find pictures of mud slung on YOUR car or YOUR car sitting on a trail with ruts?

Leo when you buy tires do the specify what vehicle they are for? No of course not. The exact same tread pattern hits the dirt for many vehicles. The tires do the damage not the music being played or the sayings of the owners.

Wow, I am impressed by how high you can jump when jumping to conclusions. It's nice to see that you still pop in every couple weeks to do so with your usual vim, vigor and vitality.

By the same token, Karl sounds a little Nazi.

I don't think one could argue that off-roading in any way, shape or form is actually good for the environment. But it has minimal impact on it when done properly, on street legal vehicles by owners who are responsible and smart enough to understand not to venture beyond marked trails, not to litter, etc. The payoff is fantastic if you enjoy the great outdoors and don't feel like walking 30 miles to get there. My point was that, if we bend over and accept all these bills being brought to Congress by the tree huggers without voicing our opinion, give it a few more bills - you know they will keep coming - and a few million acres later we will find ourselves with nowhere to go but a couple of traffic jammed fire roads.
