Hello Everyone.
I need your thoughts on a trade possibility. My 2008 has been a great vehicle and is still under 56k miles. I have been thinking of a 'newer' model and have looked at both a 2012 with 30k miles, and a 2013 with same mileage as mine. Both of these are the Lux version that the important part of our family (wife) found more comfortable.

My question to you all would be your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions. What are the improvements I need to be aware of?

Thanks,
Thomas

My thoughts, Thomas, is one, if wife likes it, i move forward, :)
But, if i was going from 08 to 12/13, would actually just make the jump to 14 or newer, just my personal thoughts.
Not sure you will ever have a miss here, btw, because your 08 sounds very nice.
Good luck!

As a 2011 owner I would avoid any of the 2010-2012. They used plastic timing chain tensioners on those vehicles and it's a costly repair. It's really common and there is a TSB for it.

I have a 2008, and since it's essentially 10 yrs. old now, I have that itch for a new one from time to time. However, I really think the 2008 is a good year; they must have worked out all the bugs on RRS that year. My car still runs and handles like brand new, so I can't bring myself to trade it in. 90,000 miles, but I do have it dealer serviced, everything according to the manual. (of course, now that I post this, karma may bite me on the ass and something may break :()

Hey Pete716, I just picked up 2013 RRS SC but I think production date still 2012, would you know how can I determine if my truck is affected by plastic timing chain tensioner issue?
VIN SALSH2E43DA780335
As a general advice and as it was mentioned numerious times trough this forum - If you can get it with CPO - get it.
Thanks.

It doesn't apply to 2013's. Here is the TSB.
