TPMS Sensors Gone Bad?

1658 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  gooseyloosey
Hi All

My TPMS light flashes at times then goes out for a while. There are times when it stays on solid for good while then goes out. I checked the pressure: approx. 35PSI front and 40PSI Rear. I know it should be 32PSI and 42PSI front and rear respectively. But, I can't believe that those couple of pounds would make a difference.

Not that one or more can't go bad, but do you have a full size spare with TPMS that might be low on pressure? I think the light just shows on start up w that. And per above you're not using a cheapo pencil guage are you?

Btw, Hugebob I see you're from the USA. So am I!

Thanks for your responses guys. As for the gauge, I think it's a cheapo. I've got another more solid one that I think I'll try tonight. I don't think I have a full size spare. Well, it's not a tire like the Conti's. But, it's not a doughnut either. Could there be a TPMS sensor in there too? I'll check that one too. BTW, what do you think of those digital pressure gauges?
I would just invest $25 in a good USA made (if possible)mechanical dial gauge from NAPA or someplace...you can drop it, it lasts forever, they always work and never need batteries.
