I’ve towed extensively with my 2014 RRS and Full Size. In order for trailer assist to work (showing trailer icon on dash, backup assist, etc) I had to buy a $300 device from Australia and solder and modify it.

My question is, has anyone towed with an 18 on a modern trailer with LED lights, and had full use of all trailer functionality?

Not sure about 2018 but my 2017 doesn't register the trailer icon when towing. New boat trailer is all LED. If there is an easy work around that would be great. I asked dealer and they were clueless. The issue I have is when backing up the beep won't go away as it things I might back into the object in the rear camera which happens to be the trailer. ;)

Installing some resistors inline with the trailer lights should fix the issue. It might take some trial and error to figure out the number of ohms necessary.
Thanks Ya i've tried this. My current trailer has all hidden wiring in the walls so it won't work.

Here's what I bought that used to work, for some reason my brake controller doesn't see the trailer now unless I bypass this unit. So I get to pick, Range Rover seeing trailer or Brake controller. With 6800 lbs behind me I pick brake controller
