Tornado rechipping questions

I am getting ready to do engine up grades. I really want to use the tornado chip offered through this site. In my research I eventually came across the info that USspec ECU cannot be modified and that I would have to buy a euro spec ECU to rechip my RR, reguardless whether it was plug in type or not. I was wondering if anyone in the US has rechipped their ECU and if this was the case for them. I really dont want to buy things and return them back and forth over and over so any real experiences would be great.

It is not clear why you want the chip, so it is a bit hard to suggest something. Are you modifying your current motor or are you putting in a different one. Just putting in a different one would not generally require a chip upgrade, even going from 3.9 to 4.6.
I want the upgraded mapping of the tornado chip added to my existing 92 county 3.9. Im upgrading the intake, exhaust, cooling and ignition this summer and the revised mapping should tie it all together. I want more power/efficiency out of my existing displacement and that is what the chip is supposed to do. Im looking for someone with a US spec RR like mine who might have used this product with success.
the only way to achive a major improvement is to have the ecu dynamicaly remapped as most of the plug in chips just change the temp reading to cold for more fueling! and unless you are changing valves and polishing and porting the heads free flow mainfolds removing the cats air filter a chip is not really hgoing to gain anything and as such the 14cux standard ecu will run fine

I have made similar mods in the past, including going to a 4.6 and got good power without a new chip. I can't state that a new chip would not have made a further difference though. I have found that with a more aggressive cam that I am not getting enough fuel in the mid range. Unless they program the chip with your car on a dyno, it is unlikely that it will be tuned to your car. It will be just another standard set of programs that may or may not work. To fix my fueling problems I am getting a FSE "power valve" which is an adjustable fuel reg. It may not be perfect, but at least it will allow me to adjust fuel to suit my setup.

If you want to play with EFI computers, maybe this is your solution http://www.diyautotune.com/?gclid=CJ32q ... pAodxUwoEg
Aarghh, this may be little bit off topic but few years ago i modified my RRC from 3.9 to 4.6.It included torque max camshaft. After engine change we discovered that not enough fuel when floored..so "we installed variable fuel press regulator..fine after that..We considered that tornado chip..but we left that one..I guess only way is thatkind of progress that you need dyno and then adjust fuelling map  Sounds expensive....at least my engine conversion was exp....

I had the same experiences putting a cam in another truck. The reps assured me that the stock injection would compensate. It didnt and a simple cam went to injectors and fuel pump. I dont want that same experience with buying a chip. I've read the USA ECU is not modifiable. I really want to know if anyone with a US RR has rechipped. I dont think the tornado chip is just a cold map. My RR didnt have a thernostat in it at first, it was cold mapped all the time and gas milage was awful. The TC is supposed to give better gas milage. Also a flat midrange and lumpy idle is a telltale sign of being rich on the bottom and lean on top, which the TC is supposed to solve. You can also solve that problem but stroking the motor out which is what the 4.6l is. But why would you solve a rich mix by increasing the displacement to use the extra fuel? The gas milage sux for a 3.9l and the midrange is sad for a V8. It should perform better and this tornado guy has already dynod the solution. Hes already done the work.
