I always cringe at the prospect of taking the range on a long distance trip, I have to say she performed well... I even took it off road deep in Vermont on my friends 300 acre property...

We all hiked into the woods to rig a zip line over a pond about a mile down a forest path for a little excitement on sat, except we couldn't get enough tension on the line... So I brought the range out and ended up just hooking the line around it. Pretty fun stuff. Everyone was blown away by the hill decent which worked perfectly on a close to 45 degree slope down a hill. :D

I never worry about taking mine on long trips it has proven to be very reliable. It has never left me stranded even when the transmission went out I still got home all the way from Charlotte just with no reverse. :thumb:

I know what you mean Brad S1, I just got back from a 700 mile round trip drive to Mammoth Lakes, CA, and my '03 was flawless. Just in case, I did purchase an expansion tank and some BMW coolant before I departed, as it was around 100+ degrees traveling through Mojave.

Why are you nervous about taking a long road trip?
Because this isn't my first Range Rover... Car is full of parts that are basically a time bomb, so when I'm over 200 miles from home I get a little nervous I'll lose an air bag, perhaps the ignition switch fails, maybe a tail light bulb pops locking it in park. These are just a few of the things I've experienced with land rover products.

For a long trip I pack a lot of recovery type tools... Actually I shouldn't say this trip was flawless, it did pop the oil filter gasket, lucky it happened while I had the hood open at a rest stop. I actually had the oil filter gasket with me so it was a two second fix.

That could have seized the motor 50 miles down the road... But as I said, I was nervous about it on a 400 mile trip, so basically every leg of a trip I'll pop the hood and check to see if it's losing fluids etc.

I would have made a similar purchase before that run too, great minds think alike, haha :thumb:
