Hi, I recorded two videos with the sound of a RRSC 2011 engine I bought recently. Despite listening to many videos I still have some doubts regarding if there is any issue with the timing chain or the coupler

Could someone more familiar with engines share your views on this? from the inside of the cabin it also seems to noise to me. Car has 75k miles on it.

Thanks very much

Sounds noisy. My guess is chain slap.

I will video a startup of my Supercharged in the morning, it has about 20k miles on the engine.

It sounds like it has weak timing chain tensioners.

i cant comment on the sound because i'm not convinced i know exactly what to listen for. i have a 2011 and for the past year i thought i heard the timing chain. brought it in twice and last month at 80k they said its not bad enough to replace. im bringing it in every 5k mile for the next year just to be safe.

Yes dealer quote. The best independent rover shop here in westchester ny said he wont touch a timing chain job and he wldnt advise letting any independent do it. Said its a complete nightmare job and there are specific LR tools that no independents can get their hands on. He said its the only job in all of rover land that hes not willing to do

people do their chains fairly regularly on the board just following a how to.

So from reading about the timing chain TSB, it sounds like all vehicles that fall within the specified VIN range need to have this repaired/serviced? There is no "it might happen, it might not" like the infamous Porsche 911 IMS?

I am new to Land Rover and just recently purchased my 2011 RR Supercharged with 53K miles on it. I guess I should be concerned and get this looked at by a professional before I go on my next road trip.

Drove up to beautiful Vancouver BC last weekend from Seattle and spent the weekend there. Was planning another road trip this weekend but guess I will have to take my diesel BMW X5.

Still love my RR :)

Bert interested in the VIN number link above but I’m not a member of that forum. Any chance you can do a screen grab? Or PDF it in a different link?
