Just bought a 2004 l322 4.4 v8 RR . I expected to need a gearbox but sorted that issue with a filter and oil change then hit the real problem- down compression on 2 cylinders. Looked into the block with a Nora scope and the notes were badly scored so sourced an engine and have fitttd it. While testing I noticed the top rad hose had a lot of pressure and bottom hose was not heating so put in a new rad and stat both Behr. No change to hose pressure. Borrowed a stat from a mate of an x5 of same vintage and compared with my new one in a pan of boiling water. The behr didn’t open with water at 99c but the second hand one opened up just below 90c and when test fitted the pressure issue appears sorted. Any reasons why this wouldn’t work. I’m just an amateur but not afraid of taking something apart
