Had some work done (replaced the 2 small hoses behind the water pump), and now the temp gauge in the dash is not moving up at all, even though I know its warm. Is this the "coolant temperature sensor" or the "thermostat" or the radiator top hose sensor (what is this one exactly). Perhaps they switched the leads or somehow broke them?

Consulted the workshop manual and checked it out. I can see the coolant temp sender lead is down in there, without any wire attached to it. Looked around and cannot seem to find the wire, any tips on where it runs from?

Found it. Green wire coming from harness just above the water pump. Perhaps this can help someone in the future.

Would like to prevent overheating whenever possibly `) , the sensor cannot be trusted? Any alternatives other than just checking out the engine every now and again? Make sure top and bottom coolant hoses are hot, etc.?
