Curious thing, one hour ago i was adding a switch to open the tailgate from the inside and removed furniture and panel to access the latch.
I believe you can lay down the small plastic part that hides the hinges of the tailgate and where is written Range Rover for the boot.
Then you have to unscrew 3 plastic screws to remove the carpet of the tailgate (in my case i had a plastic sheet to protect it) and that's it.
Of course, it's much easier to do that with the tailgate opened...

BTW, I'm looking for some pics of the Southdown Rear Diff Guard
