Can someone tell me how to access the release for the tailgate from inside the car?
I have a 1999 p38. The tailgate latch was always a little finicky but now I cannot get latch to open to identify problem.

Thank you

Curious thing, one hour ago i was adding a switch to open the tailgate from the inside and removed furniture and panel to access the latch.
I believe you can lay down the small plastic part that hides the hinges of the tailgate and where is written Range Rover for the boot.
Then you have to unscrew 3 plastic screws to remove the carpet of the tailgate (in my case i had a plastic sheet to protect it) and that's it.
Of course, it's much easier to do that with the tailgate opened...

Good luck and continue the thread.

BTW, I'm looking for some pics of the Southdown Rear Diff Guard ;)

I saw a bloke last week access his car from outside.

He unbolted the two U-shaped latch bits from each side of the car then pulled the lower tailgate down - tgis assumes you can open the upper tailgate.
