It seems parking spaces are getting narrower and narrower these days - long story short, some einstein was backing out or pulling in and clipped their side mirror on my rear passenger taillight. The lens over the turn signal shattered and now I'm awaiting a new ridiculously over-priced lamp assembly.

This got me to thinking about some way to protect the lamps (which are not very strong) in an aesthetically pleasing manner. For those of you that have seen my Range Rover, it is not of the off-road accessory type. That being said, I don't want any type of brush guards on the lamps.

I am wondering if anyone knows of any vendors that sell those plastic covers or thick vinyl covers (often smoked in color) for the P38. I have seen numerous people with them on the newer MIII Range Rover models, but I have had no luck finding anything online. There is a picture of what I am talking about on the main site: the black rover on the linked page....

I know this is not to everyone's liking, but I'd appreciate some help!

Thanks.

Putting tint on your tail lights isn't going to protect them. And the link you posted only shows Range Rovers with tinted tail lights.

In theory, the only "protection" would be the tail light guards you don't like. It's probably good you don't have then, as they drill into the bodywork and may have caused more damage than a broken lens.

Just suck it up and buy a new one, and park safer.

The tail light guards are great. Honestly thought my sister-in-law was kidding when she told me she backed into the RR. Then I saw the minivan...

The metal tabs that attach them bend quite a bit before body damage. ( Narrow bend in the trail... backed up pretty hard against that pine tree ).

They're plastic, and they can crack - but they're about the same color as JB Weld, so it's all good.

All-in-all, very well designed sacrificial trim.

i don't know if they make rear ones or tinted ones but i have the clear snap in ones from egr on the front and they have been spectacular for me and saved me from buying new headlamps more than once (more from rocks flying like speeding bullets than impacts). they're not tinted and are invisible until you're right there looking at them. they're from atlantic british and quite affordable. i've got my eye on the oem drilled ones though b/c that's what's on the back from when there was a full brush bar (the wings from which i removed). would love to find some lightly used on fleabay.
