Guys, I'd like to run synthetic in my power steering reservoir. The only synthetic trans fluid that I can find is ATF 4. Does anyone know it there would be any harm in using this for the power steering? I certainly wouldn't put it in my transmission, but the power steering reservoir? Maybe.

If not ATF 4, is anyone running synthetic for their PS fluid? What kind is it?

Only one brand? I think I have three different brands in the garage right now: Mobile 1, Redline, and Amsoil. I've used them in the hydraulic system of my BMW 750iL for 15 years now. I don't see why it shouldn't work in the power steering of a Range Rover.

Not a brand, I guess a type. Like Dexron III. ATF + 4 is for Chrysler and some other vehicles. However, it is the only synthetic tranny fluid I can find. Dexron III isn't made in a synthetic form.

I did some searching on Google since my first post, and from what I've found, it should be ok. Thanks for replying.

I use the Mobil1 in my power steering reservoir. I think its Dex VI compatible. Pretty good stuff.
