Suspension going to Extended Height by itself

5233 Views 12 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  Richard_G
From last few weeks the suspension is going into 'extended height' automatically. I will leave the rover for day or two in the garage and it the top light will blink and the height will go to the 'extended height' level and will stay there until i go to the highway and it will come back to the normal level. Today i was driving in the town and it went to the extended height level and the top light started blinking for a while. I stopped and manually lower it the normal height. Any idea what is causing this?
Thanks in advance.

hello,
it sounds like a faulty diaphragm valve, not allowing the pressure to get out when this is required.
that leads the height sensors to report maintaining same height, ecu thinks there is a physical obstacle under the car and sends it to extended height.
it could be a clogged up exhaust silencer (from EAS) as well (very cheap)
I would try disconnecting the air line from the dryer (this bypasses the diaphragm valve & exhaust), if the car behaves normal, then it was the d. valve or silencer.
cheers, korkut
