Dirt is bad CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN...it's easy to remove the glass, then go in there with a small brush I used a tooth brush, and some a oil free cleaner. When I was done I sprayed the rails with teflon lube..

Guys,

Do you have the sunroof rattle. I hate that one .

With the sunroof closed and with the shade shut i got it and i have to open the shade to avoid it.

It seems that the closed shade is applying pressure to a loose part that can't rattle this way.

I should add that the shade no longer stops at stock limit, it goes all the way front or rear. Maybe it's related.

i wipe the grease off the hinges then regrease them. wipe of the tracks/rails with a rag or paper towel, then lightly lube them. the grinding, scraping, grainy noise will go away. also the lower "valley" right under the wind deflector bar likes to gather crud, leaves, pollen, etc. and you can just pull it out then wipe it down. i do have to remove the glass b/c i'm having the same "full slide" of the shade 996 is having without the noise. gotta investigate that...
i find that regreasing the hinges periodically (i use mobil 1 synthetic all purpose auto grease) reduces the freezing-of-the-sunroof-shut to never.
