My car has developed the strangest sound I’ve ever heard a car make. While warming up, it makes this plastic-y ‘wheezing’ sound every 5-ish seconds. It’s not continuous, so maybe it has to do with a valve or flap opening. It almost like a darth Vader breathing sound. It goes away when the engine warms up.

Has anyone ever experienced anything like this??

Mine also makes some kind of sound like that. Thought mine was sort of like a duck quack about every 5 seconds. Don't know what it is.

Are these sounds related to RPM variations? May be a consideration for trouble shooting Ie. engine movement, air filter activity/vacuum leak, alternator frequency hum, pulleys/belts... Just my thoughts.

Not on mine. Just idling away after cold start. I'm guessing it may be an idler pulley or something in the serpentine belt system. So far I have not bothered to investigate deeper then a guess as to what is causing the sound.

I have the same exact symptoms as Arby. It’s not associated with rpm. It’s only at idle while warming up.
