I have come to the conclusion that the steering wheel contol signals must me on the the I-Bus network, as there are no pin-outs for this function on any of the radio module or cd changer connectors.

Hi Tim,

I've done a little more research.

This documents confirms that the steering wheel audio controls are transmmited via the vehicles I-BUS single wire communication network.

The I-BUS wire is Yellow/Grey and has a permanent +11.35 volts on it. I think this is the wire you have identified going into the connector for the original radio/CD unit.

I have asked the PAC-Audio technical support people for clarification about the wiring of their unit and await their response with interest.

I'm guessing that the only way to get over this problem will be to pick up the wiring from each switch, assuming that it is a simple make/brake, and put an appropriate resisitor in-line. This is detailed on page 7 of the installation instructions for the PAC-Audio units.

I've got the bit between my teeth now and am determined to get get this working, even if it kills me :!:

Just realised, I pasted the link about the I-BUS twice.

Here is the link for the PAC-Audio installation details;

I've just had confirmation from these guys who developed an inteface for the P38 Range Rover that they cannot convert I-BUS to resistive values :crybaby2:
