Hi,
I have an 83 classic that has a 110 landrover 2.5 tdr diesel. I have continual problem with the speedo going dead. Have fitted(first time this happened) , brand new angle drive, brand new cable (second time about8 months ago)
another speedo, new worm drive in transmission. It has gone AGAIN!, Cable, angle drive not the problem this time. Any clues?

The speedo has gone off air twice more. Problem seems to be in worm drive in transmission. This time it stopped just as I set out to drive 500kms back to home. OK Time to buy a GPS, A garman with extra large speed reading. It doesn't matter now if the rangy speedo never works again. However after driving about 90 kms, the dead speedo miraculously came back to life.

It gives false reading. 100kms on speedo is 106km. 110 on speedo 117 on GPS. GPS definately accurate.
