Sirius Owners on MY 2010 RRS - Complimentary Service ???

Having owned many vehicles as I know you all have as well, every time I have purchased a Sirius or XM radio unit in a new car there has been 6 months to 1 year of free service. I went to activate my radio today on my new 2010 RRS and was told by Sirius that due to contract issues between Land Rover and Sirius there is no complimentary service offered now and referred me back to Land Rover.

My question therefore is, did anyone receive complimentary Sirius service on their MY 2010 RRS units ? The SAT radio was not something I even really wanted but as my vehicle has this I thought I would try it again now (been a few years since I last used Sirius) and then go from there.

Thanks all

No freebie with Land Rover (unless they changed the terms for MY2010, but I doubt it.) Back in 2005-2006, if you sweet talked the Sirius rep into it when calling to activate, they would throw in a free month of service, max. Now that they have no mo money, it may be tougher to get even that.
Another thing to watch out for if you get Sirius is their billing practices. They tried to charge me a $3 "invoice fee." I called to inquire exactly what an "invoice fee" was:

RD: "What is an invoice fee?"

Indian: "It covers the cost of processing, printing, and postage for your bill sir."

RD: "So you're charging me $3 to send me a bill?"

Indian: "Yes sir."

I made it clear that I wasn't paying that and he removed the charge. Regardless, I've since given up sat radio, gonna see how it goes with just the Ipod for a while...

Free satellite radio for a month, 6 months, a year? You can't be sirius. `)

No but siriusly, Umberto's right. Sirius/XM is a skipped interest payment or two away from insolvency. They prolly won't go off the air, but they're not in a position to give freebies.

Not saying I know this first hand  someone I know got a one year package from Sirius when he bought his car over 2 yrs ago and still gets service--granted it comes in weaker but all the channels are still there.
Hmmm....Interesting. Activated Sirius on my '10 last week and they said I had 3 months complimentary service. My online account info reflects that as well.

Did you sign up for two years? Then yes, technically its free for three months if compare it to what you would pay on a month to month basis for two years. You are locked into a 24 month contract, just at a discount. Its not like On-Star used to be (or maybe still is) where you literally got it for free for a year.
Even on my 07 Expedition (traded for 10 RRS) it was a year free, oh how times have changed ;)

How true.

I got a Range Rover baseball cap, and a 12"stuffed giraffe when I bought my '08. I probably overpaid and they felt sorry for me.
Bought my 09 RRS (Sirrius) last may and the wifes QX56 last August (XM). I pay quarterly and was given 3 months free without asking.

No. I just called them to verify (which was a big mistake as it took forever to get off the phone as they were trying to get me to renew my subscription). Currently my subscription will expire in 2.5 months. I will probably go with the 1 year service which gets you a month free.
Thought I'd bring this back up to the front seeing the good deal I just got from Sirius;

I just wasn't paying attention and let my Sirius service lapse, within a month they'd sent me a "$20 for 6 months service" special offer in the mail applicable if I renew my subscription, needless to say, I'm now hooked up again `)
