I bought the car several years ago - slightly used (and LOVE it!!). Over the past couple of months - both side steps (driver and passenger side) are now "splitting." The top and bottom portions seem to be coming apart. Dealer says to replace w/ no fix option. Attached picture is not great - but hopefully gives an idea what is happening - the white is all the road residue from recent snow.

If no fix option is known - any ideas on where to just get replacements - and is it a tough job? I have done a couple searches and found a couple options, but not thrilled with any of them.

Side steps look the same as my 06 SC. The top portion is rubber and can be easily peeled off and reattached. I'd assume you just have a buildup of crud/snow/salt underneath them.

I'd say you have a look at them so you know how the rubber pulls off, then go to a self wash carwash, pull them both off and spray them down and put them back on.
