Should new tailgate struts open tailgate without assistance?

Hi all,

So I'm just curious, if my P38 was brand new off the showroom floor and I went over to the tailgate and pushed the button to open the rear hatch, would the tailgate struts open it without my help? Just wondering what new from factory might be like.

I replaced the Britpart struts that were on it with Stabilus branded parts and they are just so much better, almost too strong. The hatch actually bounces a little when it's fully opened compared to the Britparts that stopped 4 inches from open and then crawled the rest of the way. I still have to give it the first little pull though.

Just curious what The New Range Rover experience may have been like.

with new struts you still need a bit of assistance. Truly, their job is to assure the tailgate doesn't drop on your head
