The gearshift is about the only place I have not ventured on this 14 yo beast. Not really sure what to adjust.

BTW, I like your tag line about marking territory...

Yep, little spots all over the garage :D . It is very arbitrary about where it leaks, hardly ever at work and will usually leak in someone's driveway that actually cares and has a fit. Mine still isn't trained yet ;).

I know it is a pain to repair. Often times it just needs to be readjusted (doesn't take much), but replacing it is expensive and time consuming. Even though it is just the cable, it is often times sold with the gear selector and a bunch of other garbage you do not need for around $400. I think you can make your own cable though for about $10.

Thanks, I also think you have come up with a new way to explain, usually in the past we just educated the greenies that we were just replenishing the earth, just in a different way.

Now I actually understand that my range is just as housebroken as the average male!!

Adjusting your linkage is super easy, the wife is using the truck today to get to work but she's off tomorrow. I'll run my truck up on my ramps and go underneath and make a video and post it on youtube for you to watch. I'll let you know when it's done. :) :geek:

Hey Iceberg, Big-t here, sorry it's taking so long to get that video up and running, having a bit of trouble with my camera, it's in the shop gettin fixed. I just spoke with the cam shop and it will be ready for pick up tomorrow so I'll get right on it ASAP.

It's a simple adjustment. Mine was out after the trans was replaced for the previous owner - I couldn't get L in low range.

Under the car on the side of the trans you'll see the adjuster, I loosened it off, selected the gear I needed, moved the lever fully to the correct position, then tightened it up.

I think the manual says you need the correct tool to set the linkage.....

Okay, it's done. Just go to youtube and type in "Range rover shifter cable adjustment" and you'll be able to watch me adjust the cable on my truck, good luck, Big-T. :thumb:
