So I will begin by saying I am in North Carolina, where we are having our coldest winter in 30 years - it was 8 degrees today.

That being said, Im having a serious problem with my drivers front door latch. The doors lock, and then the drivers door lock will not allow the others to unlock for more than a split second. The drivers door will not allow the inside or outside handle to open it. It seems as if the lock just will not pop up. Sometimes, the latch freezes open so that the door will not close and stay closed, and I have to beat on the inside rear of the door to get the latch to catch. Both times it has happened when locked, a passenger has accidentally locked the doors while driving. At this point, the drivers door lock will not pop back up. Both times, I have had to rip off the door panel and take a screwdriver to pop up the white, lock piece on the latch. This has worked until tonight, when it would not, even after I had gotten the door free, and then tested it, only to find my door close and not open again.

Im worried about a possible accident and not being able to get out, but more worried about the embarassment of getting out of the passenger door all the time. Please help. Thankyou.

funny that got the same problem myself!

will stay unlocked if you hold the key in unlock position.

In my case the cable from inside door handle snapped, and got stuck in the "handle pulled" position

got the door open by putting window down and using a really long screw driver to push the lever back towards the back of the door thus returning it to normal position - then I could use outside handle to open door.

I have just gotten a spare cable - not fitting it till the weather cools down just driving the classic instead :D

I recently had a similar problem with the door locks - it had the same fault where the drivers door lock would cycle rapidly and not allow the other doors to stay open. Actually locked my wife in the car once. This happened during what I call the "door latch saga" where the dealer had the RR for over 3 weeks and fitted no less than 4 new door latches. Kept getting a faulty new part.

Finally the 4th (or was it 5th?) door latch mechanism replacement did the trick and it works fine. You may wish to investigate this avenue. From what I have read it doesn't sound like a difficult DIY (if you get a good part!)

Holy crap!!!...Had the very same issue happen to me last night...But this was after I went through car wash before work...Early morining, went out to warm up vehicle and was able to get in...I tried shutting door, but latch was not engaging...I fiddled with locking stricker and gave the door a good slam...It shut fine...Until I tried to get out...Doors would not unlock...Everytime I tried and pull lock up it would lock itself again...I was trapped inside...I was able to get out pass-side door by timing unlocking/locking motion with my key fab...Well, to make a long story short, I had to get back in from pass-side and drove home like normal...It's about a hour drive...Half way home I heard a click sound come from drivers door...When I arrived home, door unlocked fine and was able to get out...Tried unlocking/locking with both fab and key and everything is ok...My guess is that water got into door panel and froze up locking harware...And the ride home, with the heat on full blast warmed up doors enough to unfreeze locks...Well, lesson learnt here...Not going to wash Range during sub temps again...my bad....
