I am selling my L322 Vogue. A potential buyer likes the car and want to have his mate hook up a scanner to check for electrical problems.

I know the vehicle doesnt have any and is in great condition given all the love, time and money I invested so I am not worried about the result. However I was wondering could an untrained person hooking up a scanner potentially do some damage to the vehicle either accidentally or on purpose?

Not really, especially if it's just an off the shelf code reader.
If it's a TekPro etc, it can change settings, but not sure why they would.
I take a scanner to EVERY vehicle I look to buy. If they wouldn't allow me to hook up to it, I'd walk away, period.

From what I understand is it is the fully licensed official land rover scanner. Obviously the electrics of the L322 are rather delicate so whilst i have agreed to it I was concerned that in untrained hands it could potentially lead to issues in the ECU.

I would think he's just going to go through the systems and check for faults. It's what I do.
Stand over his shoulder and be sure he is just reading faults, viewing data, etc if it makes you feel better.
