Hello Everybody...
Could anyone tell me if the secondary air pump has an effect on gas mileage (on the 4.0), it seems as though my mileage has dropped considerably since the pump has started whining on start up ...thanks, Steve

Is everything in good shape or is it barely hanging there by the broken black hose?

Pretty sure it only effects start up to bring the engine up to pressure.

Yes....all is well and working fine after about a 2 minute whining on start up.....but when I had the hose replaced 4 months ago because it had fallen apart I noticed a considerably better gas mileage increase, and now that the pump seems to be on it's way out, the very bad mileage has returned...we're talking 8 miles to the gallon average....all other aspects of the Rover are up to date and kept new, maf, all sensors...etc....
