The drivers buckle (female side, the part mounted to the seat) is broken
internally somehow, will only hold onto the seatbelt itself if I press button, put
the buckle in, and then release the red button.

I'd like to open the buckle unit correctly without breaking the pastic trim.

Does anyone have directions on how to open that buckle up and by chance
anyone had to repair this? Is there a repair solution?

Thanks!

Isn't the cover made of two pieces screwed together from the rear? I haven't looked at one for a long time and I can't remember if it was a P38A clip.

I've had a similar problem, we managed to pry open the buckle and adjust the spring so it works as should again. Only problem was some of the clips holding both halves together broke off, so it needed some ducttape for reassembling.

Send me a PM and i'll send you one at no charge, I would rather you get one thats not taken a part. It will be from the parts car. I won't sell seat belts, and the parts car has all four If anyone else has a real need for one, let me know and I'll get shipped out..

I was going to offer the same, as I have a couple of spares.
Looks like Scotty leads the way in generosity yet again :thumb:

Very generous of you, just make sure it's the right type.
I found there's at least 2 different types, one corresponding to the ones used on later Defenders. I couldn't find the right type, so took the old one apart to fix it.
