I'm currently in the Kansas City area and recently there was a reasonable amount of snowfall that did stick to roads. Seeing that it's a Range Rover, I drive over the snow with confidence (no this doesn't mean I was speeding) and then when it comes time to brake in it, I hear an unsettling scraping noise. Once i go back to dry road it doesn't make the noise. Anyone have an idea whats going on?

Most likely just snow and ice build up rubbing on something. Happens to me on every snow run. There have been time I've had so my snow and build up on my rims that they are not even close to balanced. Of course I don;t find out until getting back on pavement and cant get over 15-20 MPH eventually the clods of ice fall off or are thrown off.
