Hello folks.

I took the black bodge (a black 3.5EFi) in for an MOT....I knew it would fail, but a list to work through is worth £50 to me....
Anyhows, a few bushes and some welding is needed on the sills. To be honest not as much as I thought it might need.

One of the fail points was quite a bit of play in the front steering link (drag link) arm. Amazed I didnt get wheel wobble (which I fixed by sorting a swivel housing), but might explain the woolly steering response (compared to my newer 3.9EFi).
The excessive play is at the steering box end of the rod. However, so far I only managed to find a part number of NRC1832 which is the rod end. I can only find retailers selling the complete rod assembly NRC3226, that includes the ball joint at the wheel hub end, which I'd rather not have to buy.....(its more expensive I guess)
So, is NRC1832 still available separately? (confusingly, I can't find this part number in my parts book) OR, has it been renamed with an alternative part number.......OR, do I have to buy a whole new rod/arm assembly just for the end ?

Any help would be grateful.
cheers

Ah yes, thats the part!

There's excessive play at this joint. Looking again and thinking more logically, I take it its the drop arm joint that connects to this end that I need to replace.
I was somehow thinking there would be a bush 'in' this end part, but I think it may be remnants of the ball joint thats on the drop arm.?!

The drop arm is rebuild-able. I've never done one but I have the same problem and will be ordering a kit soon. Good luck!

Later drop arms takes a conventional tie-rod end.

The earlier drop arm was of a different design and had a rebuildable ball joint (I did it on my RRC).

I don't have my parts catalogue on this computer and my desktop HDD has died so I can't check it for you.
