Just had my timing gear all replaced by the local indie. Car runs great and a lot quieter but now when idling in traffic after warm-up, the revs will suddenly drop by about 200 then pop back up to idle at about 650-700. It's quite inconsistent, sometimes pretty bad to the point of the car shuddering, sometimes not at all. Putting it in neutral seems to help severity. No codes except the O2 sensors, which I had before the timing issue and is either a bad cat or sensor, neither of which I'm terribly concerned about. Mechanic doesn't think that is related and thinks anything else (like a dirty MAF) would throw codes. I'm at about 75K miles. Oh yeah, and bad mileage numbers (if the on-board can be trusted) so maybe I should replace those sensors. . .

Any ideas ?

Dying O2 sensors will cause your fuel trims to change, when the computer adds fuel. Arby is correct regarding inconsistent idle. I would start there. Ray
