Hi all!! I have the factory roof rails with adjustable crossbars on my 2010 l322. I'm using a roof top tent but the cross bars broke under the weight. They were pretty old so i might try to swap them out. What's my easiest option to get some stronger crossbars? Are there any stronger oem style ones or do any other brands have ones that will fit the factory rails? Or should i remove the rails and put in some other racks? Thank you!
I would think you would need something heftier for a tent, something that is rigid and mounts in all six mounting positions. I have a Voyager rack, hefty and well built but not inexpensive. I think there is a Rhino rack, search on those and you should get some info. Personally, I don't get why anyone would want to sleep on the roof when you could have a bigger tent with a large air mattress on the ground.
