Anyone experienced the rocker arm push rod cap rattle? I think the rattle that I hear at start up at first was dry starts from an oil pressure problem, but now I am not so sure. This is a known problem. Anyone changed their rocker arms to the newer ones? Thanks!!!! 8-0=

Take a Rocker Cover of and check the die casting i.d. code on the rocker arm, if it's 17,18,19 or 20 they are the old type.
If it's 13A,14A,15A or 16A they are the new type. On 1999 truck i would think they are the new type as the TSB gives a chassis range of WA382672 to WA391018.

Cheers

Not sure where you found that VIN. Range. I think LP is just the code they used for the P38 i'm sure someone will know the exact meaning.

Ours is ya 432.... and Ihad read somewhere that it was in the range which had loose inserts. Now I can check the rockers and see what #'s they have. I bought a set on here {see much earlier post] c/w shafts and assembled but 3 of the rockers actually have crooked inserts on the valve stem contact end. Have not changed them yet, but still tapping about the same now as when we bought it.
