i have a 2002 HSE with the H/K stereo, and the main amp in the back has given up, i cant find a used amp, and i dont want to pay for a new one so for the time being i am using an old D2 one that i had laying around, but it only runs the front speakers.

my question to you is, would it be possible to buy an aftermarket amp, cut the oem plug off and wire everything into the new amp? if so, how many channels do i need and how would i get it to work? - i am not a big audio guy, so the stock speakers, head unit and nav system work just fine for me.

thanks,

Ben.

Good question my friend and one I wrestled with for a long time. I was just about to go down the aftermarket route when I found one one eBay for $35 brand new !!!!.
Any hoo, I got as far as finding this post on a BMW forum http://forums.roadfly.com/forums/audio/forum.php?postid=1433274&page=2 I didnt get as far as checking on the wiring colour codes and stuff, but initialy it looks the same as my RR.
Hope its some help.

Oh and just in case here is a link to the guy I got my amp from. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230479894416&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid=8234714946945933197 He did have another one straight after I bought mine so may be worth dropping him a line.
