reconditoned gear box

hi there, i am new to this forum and was looking for advice on my 04 54 plate rr vouge diesel in which the gear box has gone....
i am looking to buy a recon one because the new one is to expensive, any advice would be really appreciated on wheres best to
purchase one...thanx

its hard to recommend one without knowing where you live. From there, people closer to you should be able to help out.

I wouldn't expect it to be a cheap job though. When I got mine done, the chap said the ZF boxes in the petrols tended to shear a couple of components and simply stop working. The GM boxes apparently like to shread bits and lunch the rest of the box to bits. :shock:

I used Ashcroft Transmissions near Luton, for my ZF auto box and transfer box a year ago. Would recommend them, both boxes supplied and fitted for £2500. Good same day service, and after 18000 miles as good as new.
