You may want to look inside to see if water has leaked in where the motor/connectors are... could be causing strange things to happen.
Yes, there is a thread somewhere regarding the bosch icons, although personally, I don't see what the fuss is. I've tried them on other vehicles and notice no difference other than price (and that they will fall apart if the end caps break off, happened to me twice before I decided to go back to "normal" wipers).
