Have some seepage from the rear diff seal front (breather looks ok) seems like early seal failure. Just need a quick yeah or nay on whether the entire seal assembly needs to be replaced or if just replacing the seal suffices - Both are available parts is the "kit" with the flange et al. just a convenience or necessary when the seal is available by itself and new locknuts are a dime a dozen?

cheers

I would replace the seal and the flange. Usually when it leaks, it is a combination of the two wearing. Often times if you just replace the seal, it will start leaking a couple months later. I replaced the flange and seal on mine, took a LONG time and was a very greasy job. You will need a set of gear pullers to get the seal out, a screw driver WILL NOT work. I ended up using a set of needle nose pliers that had a 45 degree bend at the end of them. My gear puller was too big. Once the flange and seal are off, be VERY careful of the bearings in there. There was this thing (don't know what it was called, the flange connects to it) seemed like it would come all the way out if I pulled on it enough, and bearings would fall into the differential if it came out all the way.
