If you have no compression in one cylinder and white smoke, it sounds like a head gasket issue. What year is your Sport?

I would tend to agree - that is engine is really sick as they should rattle a bit being a diesel but run nice and smooth. White smoke on start in a diesel is normally unburnt fuel from glow plugs not working but in your case I think the white smoke is from unburnt fuel from the cylinder with no compression.

You really need to go to http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/ and post your problem there as they are familiar with diesel issues and have diesel mechanics on there.

Good luck with your issue
