Hi All,

I have a Range Rover l322 4.4 V8 2003, New'ish to me and want to know if this engine noise is normal ? i think i can hear a slight tapping noise.

Mileage on car is only 86k on the clocks and i have just had a refurbed gearbox replaced under warranty by gearbox specialists.

Recent work done, over last 2 years are, Alternator, two front air suspension strats/bags replaced, think water pump was done aswell, head gasket was replaced and sealed. oil level is fine no signs of any leaks.

Will take a read, I have no power loss or anything like that. If not will take local Range Rover specialists and see what they have to say !

just hoping will be a normal sound. and nothing to worry about.

I just changed my oil to liquimolly and Used that BG EPR engine treatment stuff. Might want to give that a try to quiet things down a bit before you spend crazy money. Keep us posted.

i will do, going local land rover garage this week. Not massively concerned as its driving fine, revving freely

Before i do anything though going to change oil and run a oil cleaner before doing oil change, stick some 10w40 or 5w30 in it and see how it goes. reading about oils at the moment !

Update 03/11/2015,

Oil and filter changed and run Wynns Oil System Cleaner cleaner before dropping old oil out.

Refilled with 5w30 and added wynns supercharge oil treatment. did 40 mile drive and engine seems alot quiter still some vanos rattle but nothing that seems out of the normal after alot reading on forums.

Still getting it checked Thursday and let a range rover specialist have little listen to the engine. will keep updated as may help someone else in future.
