A question if I may. When and when should they not be present in the vehicle. Are these part of a pack (rear entertainment) or a standard. I noticed the tester I drove first (before I test drove mine) had them in and I think that had rear entertainment pack yet mine is missing them. I am somewhat at a loss because the manual doesn't state these are an 'option' and therefore would make me believe a standard however when I looked at other RRS's on the lot in HSE without rear entertainment they did not have them either. I know you can't seem to elect these as build criteria so any comments here would be appreciated. Its no big deal as I have a shop near me that can get the RR headrest DVD players fully installed for a lot cheaper than LR :) so will probably go that way to keep the passengers happy :)

Yeah, volume / audio source controls and headphone jacks on rear doors were standard issue on MY06-09 HSE and S/C (with or w/o RSE), only in Europe they'd be missing from the doors of some cheaper trims not available in North America (S, SE.) The only extra inputs / controls included with the RSE - other than the monitors on the headrests, obviously - are two A/V RCA inputs behind the center console (under the same flip-up cover that hides the AUX jack) and a remote control. Things may have changed on MY2010s, though.

Ok, after speaking with a number of people at Land Rover who didn't even know what I was talking about :))) I found a local dealer who was the only one that not only knew about this but seemingly what happened. I will need some help to prove this obviously which is why I thought where better than here. I am being told that the rear seat audio controls which are mounted on the rear doors and allow CD/Radio skip and wired headphone insertion were discontinued early on in the 2010 MY for the RRS. The vehicle I just picked up was a 12/09 build and does not have these. Can anyone out there that DOES NOT have rear seat entertainment pack on their HSE (rear seat audio was not part of this pack but want to make sure we compare apples to apples) let me know what their 2010 MY has in the rear and post with build date ?

Thanks so much

WC

BTW, love this vehicle !!!!!

Ok, final answer I just received on this which makes sense. This is quoting a LR bulletin from Oct 15 2009 entitled 'Land Rover LR4 & Range Rover Sport Rear Audio ControlsRevised Fitment Strategy'

It states 'Land Rover LR4 & Range Rover Sports built from September 3 2009 on will no longer feature rear audio controls as standard unless. LR4 & Range Rover Sports that include the RSE will still contain these controls'.

Thanks to the local dealers here for helping get to the bottom of this one

D'oh! You beat me to the punch! After our correspondence I checked the rear doors of my RRS and indeed you were correct - I have NO audio controls back there like I did on my 2008! I spoke to the GM at my dealer who was to ring me back today with an answer. (Note to self: remove "detail oriented" from resume)

I must admit I have absolutely no need for them but I'm a bit annoyed they aren't there as the owner's manual indicates they are and explains how they can be used w/o RSE. I tested it on my 2008 and thought it was a neat feature albeit, it was never used by me or any passengers I chauffeured.

Thanks for the update!

aw my MY06 just got a lil more special. who needs the extra ponies, the extra map pocket on the driver's seat, a TFT display and all the new luxuries when i've got these rear audio controls and all these other goodies
- power folding mirrors at the touch of a button: roll down down. yell "hey pull that mirror in, will ya?"
- PTI cradle for the motorola startac...er nokia 1 or whatever model that supports.

and let's not forget, as long as you've got the "special attention personal vent" you're set.

I was looking to retrofit these controls, but it looks like there are two different rear door wiring looms, as my 06' RRS TDV6 doesn't have the small plug that attaches to the window/audio controller (it only has the big green one).

I don't suppose anyone knows the part number for the door loom that has this additional connector (It's a flat 5 or 6 pin plug that comes out of the loom at the same place as the window and tweeter wires...)

Update...

I got the loom from a supercharged model which has the additional plug for the audio controls on the window switch.

Once fitted, they still did not work. Don't bother with this update unless you are changing the stereo or adding the RSE system I guess.
