Hi all.

I just had a pre-purchase inspection done on a 2007 RRSC with 119K kms. Here's what the report indicated as well as some diagnostic codes that came up.

The shop couldn't evaluate any of the diagnostic codes without pursuing them further, which wasn't apart of the pre-inspection. So there's some unknowns in the codes presented.

To me it looks like the only thing that I'll likely need is a new battery and a power steering pump. Anyone see anything else menacing?

Hood struts


5A00 - CAN data bus faulty
C128 Parking brake CAN message - no communication
DA4A CAN message: transfer case
P056200 - System power supply - Voltage below threshold
U0401 - Engine Control Unit - Component sending invalid data
U0402 - Transmission control unit - component sending invalid data
U0416 - Vehicle dynamics control unit - Component sending invalid data
U0403 - Control unit transfer case - Component sending invalid data
U0421 - Control unit for level control - Component sending invalid data
U0155 - Communication with instrument cluster - missing message

None of the faults there would worry me, however, knowing what module the 5 U codes are stored in would help. But yeah, start with a battery.

If you an afford it get an aftermarket warranty. Global does good business in Canada and I have had good experience with them. Got full service bumper to bumper for two years for 2 K. Which shop in TO is doing the work for you?

Probably not nearly as critical with the '07 and newer as with the '03 to '05 BMW design.
