Hi
as a follow on from my posting regarding water rust and despair.... i want to remove the plastic sill covers to inspect/repair/protect the metal work behind.
How easy are they to remove? and are the fasteners still available new? i am sure to break some !
cheers,

They are plastic rivets, you have to drill them out. You can buy them but I am not familiar with any land rover parts store near you. Rust does start underneath them 8~ You could always replace them with rock sliders, its what all the cool kids are doing `)

Be prepared for the tin worm to have been chomping away behind the plastic! I took my sills off after getting the vehicle and hardly any sill there at all! You can get the pop in rivets I would try the people who supply the replacement plastic sills. Also the wheel arch liners they use similar fixings.

You don't need to drill them out, just get a small round screwdriver and push the centre pin inwards. The pin will stay in the sill. New ones are available from most specialists. Or you can get the same thing from a Ford dealer.

Hi all,
well i got some plastic rivets and the long overdue restoration of the Rover has commenced.
However... the bolts at the front end of the plastic sills are rusted solid. Any suggestions as to how to remove them?
cheers
