With the cold weather fast approaching for all of us both sides of the pond can I ask a simple question which I cannot find in a UK based forum answer search or from Google UK.

I need to top up my coolant (dash warning) and was surprised to that it was a bright Pink colour. It only needs a small top up. Not wanting to mix two different brands and understanding that I need the Silicate free type can somebody tell me where (in the UK) I can get hold of the Pink Antifreeze please :?:

PS: AS I understand it the "Low Coolant" indicator will also light up id the 50/50 Antifreeze/Water mix is more/less than the 5% margin allowed.

Land Rover recommends some esoteric coolant (Castrol SF?) that's nearly impossible to find here in the US and costs as much as a good bottle of Dom Perignon when you do find it. Dealers here use GM Dexcool when they don't have the Land Rover recommended stuff - which is pretty much all the time - and the GM stuff is also pinkish in color. But I don't know if it is available in the UK.

I think the GM Dexcool is orange!

See this very useful chart http://www.whitfieldoil.com/downloads/ZerexAntifreezeCoolantApplicationChart.pdf but no PINK in sight anywhere :D

I need the Pink stuff that's in the car already - and in the UK!

For the cost of the Halfrauds stuff ready mixed (in other words already 50% of it is expensive water) you could probably buy 5L of concentrale stuff from LR and just get the coolant changed. A 2006 will be due a coolant change by now...

Agreed Dan. Just go into the Parts Dept and ask for what you want. Give the vehicle VIN if you can and they will help you find the correct coolant. I've found LR coolant cheaper than the autofactors around here, and so I get all of my coolants through them now.

Will do going forward but at the moment I specifically want to match the "Pink" coolant already in my system.

Just been to local Halfords and got hold of 2 litres of the PINK STUFF! They only had the concentrate (unmixed) version but that was what I wanted as I had already topped up half of what I needed to with distilled water. The other half of the top up, the Pink Non Silicate Antifreeze is no in and the job is done.

Many thanks to those that helped.
