On another thread a guy from the USA says petrol there is expensive. Yet another guy visiting the says US petrol is cheap. So, for the heck of it I did the math.

$1 = £0.68 current exchange rate. That's $0.81/litre ($3.06/US Gal), which would be 55p/litre in the US compared to currently 125p/litre in the UK or $1.84/litre give or take.

So, for us Brits 55p/litre is cheap. So compared to $0.81/litre how cheap/expensive is yours?

It's all relative though...

get out clause-my math is not grade A

just regular gas 93......i dunno where u went p38arover ...but gas aint cheap here especially since were spilling about 500000 gallons of oil a day into the gulf $3.06US a gallon getting 13mpg :naughty:
Using today's exchange rates:

USD 3.06/US gal = USD 0.85/litre = CAD 0.88/litre/ AUD 0.96/litre = Euro 0.69/litre = GBP 0.58/litre

Like, I said - cheap.

The graph below is probably still close even though it's over 6 months old (Sept 2009).

@Dominican Republic:

Texaco with Techron (premium gas) is USD 4.55/US gallon, or USD 1.20/litre

It's too cheap there to register!

When I worked in Saudi Arabia, petrol was really, really cheap but I can't remember the actual price.

You must be gutted! :snooty:

I know we talk about the fuel use on our (mostly) petrol V8's, but I've had a few owners tell me they are only getting 24MPG on the diesel TDV6 Disco3 and RRS.

well, don't get me wrong, would love to have one of this new diesel engines to drive. The torque the have is just staggering. The petrol here in the middle east is just from such low quality, that most of the modern petrol cars just run on remaped ecu and diesel is doesnt work at all (at least not long)

The only diesel CAR you can get here is the Defender (think the engine is supposed to work with all qualities of diesel fuel), VW launch a inigative with their V12 Diesel but had ample of trouble because of the diesel...

I drove a 2.7 tdv6 sport back to back with a tdv8 sport under similar conditions.
The 2.7 was wavering between 27 and 28 mpg and the tdv8 was getting 23mpg.

I recently had a 3.0 tdv6 Disco4 but I couldn't get it to display fuel economy figures...

Here in Sri Lanka, currently 90 Petrol is LKR115.20/ltr ~1$/ltr. But it's supposed go up in the near future to somewhere around LKR130/ltr ~ $1.13/ltr.
95 Petrol is around LKR135/ltr ~ $1.17/ltr.

Diesel on the other hand is LKR72.20/ltr ~ $0.62/ltr. it will go up to 80/ltr or $0.69/ltr.

My P38 2.5 DSE does around 10km/l in the long haul but drops to around 6km/l when town running.
