People with rims. what do you use as a spare?? Buy a 5th after market wheel?

I recently bought my 20's but my had the stock 19's on there originally.

What are people running as a spare? Can I run that 19, I know it has a bigger tire on it, not sure if the full diameter is still the same.

As long as the overall circumference of the spare matches the one of the running wheels, it won't matter if the rim doesn't match. What size 20s do you have?

I run 18" LTZs full time. On road, I carry a full size spare (255/55-19) on the black wheel. Off road, I ditch the 19" and throw a full size LTZ on an identical spare wheel on the roof rack.

The closest I can get is a 275/50 on the 19 inch rims to get the difference to:

29.74 (20" inch rim)
29.82 (19 inch rim)

You are good as you are, a difference of +/- 2.5% in overall circumference will not be meaningful enough to give you problems, and as your running wheels wear out over time that difference will be even smaller. The axle most sensitive to size variations is the front one (the speed sensor may detect the rolling difference and prevent upshifts as it assumes you are cornering) so - if you have to - you can move a good wheel to the front and put the spare on the rear axle to further minimize issues. If you really wanted a near identical match you could upsize the spare tire to a 255/55/19 size, but probably not worth it especially since you will likely use the spare only as a "limp home" emergency wheel anyway.

I'm sure you know this, but stock for the Sport is 255/50/19 for those that are wondering.

Agreed. You know, I have my stack of 19s sitting in the garage and when I look at the new/unused spare on the top, that thing looks at least an 1" larger in diameter than my mostly used 255/50/19s. I'm going to place them side by side one day and measure them... With new tread depths measuring almost 14/32nds of an inch - then counting both sides if they are worn - that's almost a full 1" diff if/when you place an unused spare on there.

I would think the Sport could handle that for short distances so I'm thinking you'll be "ok" golf. Although, of course better to have a full/correct size, especially when away from home.

I run 20's and opted to leave my space saver spare tire in place. I just don't like the look of the heavy stock spare tire protruding below the bumper. In my option it ruins the sexy lines of the Sports ass end.
