I have read on this forum that there is a release below the cupholders. Does somebody have a pdf on the procedure?

I am not very technically oriented and do not want to tear up cosmetic trim items to get the parking brake released.

Thanks in advance and have a great Memorial Day.

There's a small round plug right between the two front cup holders, pry it out with a small screwdriver. Then, use the long handle in the tool compartment under the trunk floor next to the scissors jack, the one with a hook on one end. Insert the hooked end of the handle into the opening between the two cup holders and hook it into the loop of the emergency brake release cable, which should be clearly visible through the opening after you remove the plug (if it's dark you can use a flashlight, but it's sticking out and fairly easy to see and hook up.) Pull up hard. Say a prayer.

Thanks for your response and I will try that next tiime.

I was able to get the EPB to pop loose by putting the vehicle into reverse AND into low range and gunning it. There was't enough torque in high range to get the EPB to loosen its grip.
