Is the PCV valve ( Part No: LKR000040) for the M62 engine valve the same as in the BMW M62 engine ?

Thanks,
Chris

BMW has two variations of this part. One for the old style PCV system which ran a hard pipe and internal cyclonic separator and one for the new style which is the same as the RR.

You need the BMW version of the newer design. Cross reference a 2001 (other years will work but I always use 2001) or newer BMW X5 4.4 M62 and you should get the right BMW part number.

Another technical question:
The crankcase gases are routed back into the intake system. I disconnected this pipe from the air filter housing because I thought this way the engine doesn't get hot gases and doesn't overheat so fast. Does this pose a problem to the PCV valve ( is there a vacuum system that suffers from disconnection of the pipe ?).
