My P38 window/sunroof switch is bad - does anyone know what wires I should jump off hand to get the windows/sunroof to open/close? It's pretty hot where I am a fair bit and the A/C doesn't work. I need to do this just until I get a new switch. Thanks in advance.

Re: P38 window switch - jumping connectors without new switch?

You kind of can't. The switch pack communicates with the BeCM over a serial bus, and if it doesn't work none of the windows will work. You could disconnect the driver's side window from the door outstation and magic up some way of stuffing 12V into it, or you could use the manual sunroof winder (T-shaped key in glovebox fits into slot under interior light) to get you out of a jam just now.

Genius on the T-shaped manual winder - lets hope I have one stuffed in the glove box somewhere.. Much appreciated! John

Manually jump the power window motor to roll window up or down.
