Good morning team, got a leak from my front diff so planning on replacing the seals, no problem finding an output oil seal online but i cannot find a gasket for the diff casing? do they exist? do you have to make one from gasket paper? do you just put a bead of sealant on the mating faces?

cheers chaps (chappettes?)

Does the Land Rover part no. 7316 fit?

Maybe but that is for a Defender/Discovery/Series diff which are different to the P38.

Yes, but I have heard mechanics refer to the later Defender diffs as being P38A diffs so I did wonder. I’ll grab a diff gasket the next time I’m at my local indie and keep it until I can get.to a friend’s place (he’s doing some P38A diff rebuilds - I just gave hime a couple of crown wheels and pinions).
